How to rethread a skateboard axle
Here at Wreckless, we like to share our skills with you.
This is a simple technique we use for rethreading battered axles.
So, you take off the nuts, pop on new wheels which youve just purchased from us, and the nuts wont go back on because the axle is all batterted up, threads are damaged and
if you tighten up the nut , you run the risk of cross threading the axle and maybe the nut will never stay on and you might end having to purchase new trucks.
To sort this out, we take the axle and using a flat file, file the end of the axle down to till its all smooth and flat again.
Now, take the best tool on the market, the Reflex utilitool with the rethreader and making sure its on at 90 degrees to the axle, pushing down
firmly, start to turn it clockwise till it bites the threads on the axle.
Turn the tool round and round till you have gone the full way down the original threads, we just did a few turns here to show you what it looks like.
See the difference in the picture!
Hey presto, nuts will go now no problems at all. Job done.
